Publication

This paper discusses political developments in Turkey in 2007. The author argues that the Turkish Justice and Development Party has the best chance to promote decisive reforms and changes so that the country enters, once and for all, modernity and fully joins Western nations. He also argues that the attitudes of the EU and of the US will be important in the process but, in the end, the ultimate decision, effort and responsibility lie with the Turkish people.
