This publication assesses the role of the EU in Kosovo and argues that its presence there is critical to prevent possible conflicts and the further disintegration of the region. The author explains that a multi-ethnic Kosovo has failed. He concludes that the EU integration mechanisms could bypass the conflict of principles of state sovereignty and self-determination, which he identifies as one of the key problems of the Kosovo crisis.
