This paper analyzes the integration of energy policies in the process of urbanization in India. It outlines the development of national urban planning in India as reflected in the Planning Commission's five-year plans, compares the plans' recommendations with the actual policy progress and gives an overview of the country's energy policy. Subsequently, the paper discusses the integration of urban and energy policies.
