This paper examines the causes and consequences of the stalemate of Nepal's peace process one year after the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. The paper identifies the causes behind the various interruptions to the peace process, comments on disputes surrounding the newly promulgated interim constitution, and reviews international reactions. Subsequently, the paper considers the adverse law and order situation and assesses the role of the UN Mission in the country. The paper argues that an all-inclusive dialogue to address stakeholder concerns is necessary for a lasting solution to Nepal's problems.
