This paper examines the prospects for a long-term solution to the future of 106,000 Bhutanese refugees living in Nepal, agreeable terms to the governments of Bhutan and Nepal and the prospects for the refugees once they resettle to third countries such as the US. It introduces the roots of the refugee crisis and assesses Nepal's policy as well as India's involvement. Subsequently, the paper comments on the failed ministerial-level talks between Nepal and Bhutan and describes the US proposal for third country resettlement.
