This report identifies strategic options available to the Bulgarian government and its defense industry to prepare for the 21st century and facilitating its integration into the NATO and the EU industrial base. The authors recommend that NATO and its member countries encourage countries in Central and Southeast Europe to develop collective procurement mechanisms for military acquisitions. The paper concludes that by intra-regional integration, their defense assets will help to encourage greater regional stability and security.
