This article focuses on the history, current situation and future development of the "three cornerstones" of Mongolia's foreign policy as well as their impact on the country’s independence. More specifically, it looks at Mongolia’s 1) strategic partnership with Russia; 2) comprehensive strategic partnership with China; and 3) ‘Third Neighbor’ foreign policy, which refers to the establishment of cooperative relations with highly developed democratic countries in the spheres of politics, economics and culture and human sciences.
