This paper examines US integrated security assistance to other countries as part of Section 1207 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The author details how the program has previously distributed funds to countries such as Haiti, Colombia, Nepal, Somalia and others. The paper emphasizes the importance of integrated security assistance as not only military force can overcome the diverse and largely non-military challenges that the US faces in the form of extremism, terrorism and political instability in such countries around the world.
