To illustrate the role UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) could play in violence prevention, this brief looks at SDG target 5.5, which aims to further the participation of women in political, economic, and public decision-making. The text’s authors claim that their empirical research shows that investing in Target 5.5 would unleash the leadership potential of women, facilitate their meaningful participation in decision-making, and thus advance sustainable peace and development.
