This paper examines Russia and North Korea’s economic relationship, focusing particularly on general trade, oil, labor, transportation and finance. The text’s authors contend that while the two countries have long engaged in pragmatic economic transactions, Pyongyang’s reliability as a commercial partner leaves much to be desired. They also explore how the expansion of economic sanctions against North Korea could affect Russia’s assessment of Pyongyang’s economic resilience.
