This paper reviews the role of gender and women in the ongoing ‘people process’ between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). In particular, the text 1) explores the role of women in preparing the groundwork for a political solution to Colombia’s internal armed conflict; 2) considers women’s official, semi-official, and unofficial roles at, around, and outside of the peace talks that began in late 2012; and 3) assesses the ways in which shifting gender roles and ideologies intersect with transitional justice.
