This early warning list identifies four conflict areas where prompt action on the part of the EU and its members could improve the prospects for peace. In particular, the publication features an analysis of 1) factors undermining security in Nigeria; 2) the diplomatic crisis between Qatar and other Arab states, which started in June 2017; 3) the Malay-Muslim separatist insurgency in Thailand; and 4) the protracted political crisis in Venezuela as well as how the breakdown of vital infrastructure, growing hunger and other factors could lead to greater insecurity in the country.
