Despite Washington’s belief that only China can help solve the North Korea nuclear dilemma, this note wonders whether Russia also has a viable role to play. While the Kremlin doesn’t support the use of high-pressure tactics against Pyongyang, it is committed to North Korea’s denuclearization. For this reason alone, Washington should pursue regular US-Russia consultations and prioritize bilateral anti-proliferation collaboration.
