This paper examines Australia's economic growth since 1991, which has seen wealth more than double. The author investigates the upswing's characteristics, how enduring it may prove to be, how it is changing Australia and the country's place in the world, and where it is potentially heading. The author stresses education, training, research and development for Australia's continued economic growth. This is especially salient as Australia incurs large current account deficits and lower rates of workforce growth.
