This paper examines the tense relations between Russia and Georgia and gives evidence for further escalation caused by Russian actions. The author describes incidents in the unrecognized Republic of Abkhazia such as the introduction of Russian railway troops, the arrest of Russian peacekeepers carrying unauthorized anti-tank missiles and Russian plans to explore the coastline for oil and gas.
