This article examines the positions of Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding a possible negotiated settlement to their conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. The author discusses obstacles to a peaceful settlement, the domestic impact in both countries and international mediation efforts. She concludes that for a peaceful resolution of the conflict the international community needs to take preventive action and put more pressure on the parties involved.
