This paper examines the trajectory of efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear question. The authors discuss a range of scenarios including the IAEA and Security Council resolutions, sanctions and the unilateral use of force. They conclude that the US, faced with poor policy options, may feel at some point that it has to risk the uncertain to prevent what it regards as the unthinkable.
