As this paper sees it, the new EU Global Strategy and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals Agenda provide an opportunity for the EU to refresh its global approach to development cooperation. By putting an added emphasis on 1) resilience and development in fragile contexts; 2) the principles of universality and shared responsibilities; and 3) coherent policies that are systematically interwoven, Brussels can indeed take a step forward in its development programs.
