This paper looks at the US presidential elections of November 2004 and the impact of its outcome on US foreign policy. The author discusses the two candidates’ similarities and differences in foreign policy terms and analyzes to what extent the relationship between the US and Australia is affected by the result. He argues that the similarities between George W Bush and John Kerry are more striking than is sometimes understood.
