This paper looks at the revival of Cambodia's Islamic minority in the post-Pol Pot period. After providing a historical background of Khmer Islam and its social marginalization, the report analyzes the role regional and Middle Eastern groups and Islamist doctrines in this proposal. The author concludes that Cambodia's revival, as with the rest of Southeast Asia, is a complex mix of entrenched local factors and new regional and Middle Eastern influences.
