This paper contends that domestic turmoil has rattled the stability of both the US‐Philippines and US-Thailand alliances in recent years. However, the text’s author also suggests that there are opportunities for an improvement in US bilateral relations with both countries under the Trump administration. Indeed, he contends that enhanced engagement with the Philippines in the form of humanitarian assistance as well as increased scientific cooperation with Thailand could help reset the US relations in Southeast Asia by placing a stronger emphasis on collaboration and prosperity.
