This report examines the conflicts in the southern Caucasus. First it gives an overview of the origins of the conflicts and then considers the interests of the parties, namely Georgia, Azerbaijan, Russia and the West. The authors conclude that given the uncompromising attitude of the actors involved in the conflicts and the scale of tension, a peaceful resolution seems unlikely.
