This working paper describes the underlying causes of corruption in Sub-Saharan Africa. The author examines the issue from a number of angles and assesses the findings with a variety of criteria. The author concludes that there is a wide range of causes for a broad variety of modes of corruption in Sub-Saharan Africa.
