This report studies the causal relationship between police corruption, crime and crime reporting. It employs data from the International Crime Victimization Survey. Using a simultaneous equations approach, the authors find a number of statistically significant, yet intuitive relationships. The clearest of these is that crime reporting reduces police corruption.
