This paper considers the politicization of history in the Russian educational establishment under the Putin-Medvedev government. The author argues the Russian leadership desires to see the teaching of a more patriotic version of Russian history. If this trend prevails, the future Russian political class may become less aware of the 'blank spots' in Soviet history; this could contribute to the development of a more nationalist outlook.
