In December 2016, Israel’s Knesset voted to fund the Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF) multi-year Gideon Plan. So, what can we expect as a result? According to the authors of this paper, the country’s reservists may shrink by 100,000, there will be significant adjustments to the IDF’s ‘standing army service model’, and overall reductions in defense spending will continue.
