This publication argues that the Kosovo independence decision is likely to increase the general standing of Albania in the Balkans. The author explains that this trend will be reinforced by the 2008 summit decision to award Albania full membership of NATO. The publication also states that the Berisha government is facing many serious problems and that the Albanian economy is beginning to show signs of stress.
