This report explores the extent to which Muslim leaders have spoken out publicly to condemn violent acts committed by Muslim extremists and identifies growing efforts within Muslim communities to reinforce the peaceful message of Islam. It looks at interfaith dialogue to promote peace, Islamic interpretations in the face of the challenges of modernity, educational efforts and practical peace-building activities. The authors point out that while the number of Muslim peace-building organizations is rising, many are small and struggling financially.
