This publication discusses the implications of joint Russian-Chinese military operations in 2005. The author argues that the exercises were designed to demonstrate conventional force capability rather than the pronounced objective of warfare against terrorism. He concludes that Sino-Russian military and political co-operation may result in a conflict of interest as each state tries to achieve its geopolitical objectives.
