This publication examines changes to the Russian political system since the accession of President Vladimir Putin. The author argues that the main features of Putin's premiership are concerned with the development of the corporatist system, enhancing social stability and the co-option of opposition parties. The paper concludes that Putin has achieved a high degree of stability and that the Russian political scene is likely to be dominated by continuity in 2003.
