This publication examines the policies and relations that post-Soviet Russia has with the Middle East. The author argues that Moscow's foreign policy community believes that Russia should continue to be recognized as a great power in the region. He concludes that the collapse of the Soviet Union has left a gap that Russia is unable to fill but its role in the Israeli-Palestinian dispute remains important if a solution is to be found.
