This publication examines the history, role and influence of Russia's Center for Military-Strategic Research. The author argues that the primary tasks of the Center were the coordination and conduct of future research into questions of military strategy, doctrine and national security. The publication concludes that the Center played a significant role in defense construction and in drafting Russia's 1993 and 2000 National Security Concept and is likely to become more important rather than less in Russia's future geo-strategic challenges.
