This paper discusses Saudi Arabia's and Syria's policies toward Iraq after the end of Iraq's post-invasion insurgency and the election of Barack Obama as US president. In particular, it discusses the relations of Iraq with its neighbors since the US-led invasion in 2003. The paper concludes that Iraq's fate increasingly depends on whether it is able to engage positively with its neighbors and how positively the neighborhood engages with it.
