This paper analyzes the recent shifts in NATO’s nuclear deterrence posture and its broader collective defense strategy. Given Russia’s current foreign policy, military modernization efforts and nuclear saber-rattling, it should come as no surprise that most NATO members are keen to maintain a nuclear option for the Alliance, at least for the foreseeable future.
