This policy brief offers a Polish perspective on the need for NATO's nuclear component, and specifically the need of US nuclear weapons in Europe. Further, it explains how Russia fits in the equation. The author argues that the gravest danger of any move to eliminate US nuclear weapons from Europe, from the perspective of Central Europe, would be to create the impression that NATO has gone 'soft' where its primary function of defending the territories of the member states is concerned.
