This paper links disarmament to Rwanda's post-conflict confidence building and reconciliation process. It assesses the impact of the 1994 genocide and then reviews the various post-conflict approaches implemented in Rwanda. It concludes that there is a need to make peacebuilding structures compatible with disarmament to prevent the recurrence of conflict.
