This paper explores efforts at rooting out oil production and mining-related corruption in Africa. It presents competing perspectives on corruption and outlines its impact on the environment and the rights of local communities. It also discusses the challenges and pitfalls of anti-corruption initiatives and debates their utility and ultimate consequence for human development.
