This paper discusses Asia's engagement with Sudan and highlights the crucial role of oil. It details Sudan's relations with China, India, Malaysia and Japan, and further discusses the diplomatic protection China affords Sudan. It also considers China's relations with South Sudan. The author submits that Sudan has emerged as a salient case study in China’s international politics.
