This paper discusses an incident of serious marine pollution off southeast Queensland that highlights the risks of human error in shipping accidents. The author argues that there are implications for ship-owning countries, including Singapore, as the incident may harden the attitude of the Australian government toward reducing the risks of marine pollution in Australian waters.
