This paper explores the link between organized crime and terrorism in southern Africa. It furnishes an overview of the main characteristics of organized crime in southern Africa and highlights factors that predispose the sub-region to terrorism. The author argues that a co-ordinated approach that takes into account the type of terrorism at issue and the factors that sustain it is necessary for any effective campaign against it.
