This article debates the rationale for taking into account HIV/AIDS issues when forming peacekeeping contingents. It examines the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operation's (DPKO) programs for uniformed peacekeepers, and lists the particular challenges the Department faces, both at the political and operational levels.
