This paper suggests that US-China competition may dominate regional dynamics in the Asia Pacific. However, the text´s author suggests that America´s withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the launch of China´s One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative may provide Japan with an opportunity take on a more independent and leading position within the region.
