This commentary considers the possibility and feasibility of the EU and China signing a Free Trade Agreement. It concludes that Brussels should promote interregional trade initiatives and negotiate a closer partnership with Beijing. There are, however, genuine impediments that still have to be pushed aside, as the text describes.
