Publication

This publication synopsizes the results of the UNIDIR 2016 Outer Space Conference, which dealt with a variety of issues and processes that are critical to maintaining space as a peaceful domain. The specific topics covered included 1) the varying perspectives that exist on the current space security regime; 2) the present and emerging problems that are linked to the space environment, particularly in relation to security and sustainability; 3) space security within the United Nations system; 4) space transparency and confidence building measures; and 5) the multilateral space security regime initiatives that are being considered by the international community.
