This paper examines 1) Liberia’s ongoing transition to a peaceful democracy; 2) its strategic and peacebuilding priorities; and 3) its engagement with external, peace-promoting actors. The text concludes that while the country has made significant progress towards creating a sustainable peace, more needs to be done – particularly by the UN Peacebuilding Commission – to support Liberia’s democratic gains and address its peacebuilding needs.
