Given the late 2016 uptick of Hezbollah- and Hamas-driven security incidents on Israel's northern and southern borders, this paper 1) analyzes the relative balance of forces that currently exist between the three opponents; 2) cites the factors that could disrupt the relative calm which has existed in the above areas since 2014; and 3) highlights the strategic- and tactical-level issues that Israel must address prior to the next confrontation it is likely to have with its immediate adversaries.
