This text analyzes Israel-China relations and provides recommendations for Prime Minister Netanyahu’s March 2017 visit to China. Netanyahu’s apparent plan is to focus on the economic aspects of the bilateral partnership and thereby avoid potential conflicts over Tel Aviv’s relationship with Washington and Beijing’s investments in other Middle Eastern states. Given the prime minister’s game plan, the text recommends that 1) Israel attempts to join the One Belt One Road initiative, and 2) China, Israel, and other Middle Eastern states pursue joint, stability-enhancing initiatives together.
