This paper examines the contemporary drivers, dynamics and actual routes of African migration to Europe, with a particular focus on the exodus of Algerians, Tunisians and Moroccans. The text’s authors conclude that although border controls have been somewhat successful, the efforts to recognize and respond to the drivers of migration have not. Basically, European nations need to work with North African states to address the chronic conditions that drive migration and the social instability that feeds it.
