This issue of the RAD features three articles on the upcoming Russian Duma elections, which are scheduled to occur in September 2016. The first article contemplates the Kremlin’s strategy for the elections and argues that while the Central Election Commission will try and prevent widespread abuses, it will be unable to stop regional governments from using "administrative resources" to influence the vote. The second piece then reviews United Russia’s primary elections and the interparty conflicts they exposed. Finally, the third article looks at the United Russia primary held in Saratov Oblast, which did little to convince people that the selection of candidates was fair.
