This paper explores public perceptions of democracy in Bangladesh from 2007 to 2014, including 1) the level of trust citizens had in major public institutions, and 2) their faith in the country’s election commission/caretaker government to hold general elections and transfer power. The text’s findings confirm that the people had strong democratic aspirations during the period under study and believed in human rights, good governance, the rule of law, and personal accountability in all spheres.
